In 2007 the Chapman family (Alan Chapman, Karen Benjamin Chapman, son Jake Chapman and daughter Molly Chapman) first performed together as the Von Chaps (a name inspired by the Von Trapps of The Sound of Music). Now, a dozen years later, they’re embarking on a 19-concert tour of China in December, 2019. Their program is a combination of Broadway, classical, jazz and pop.
Alan Chapman is well known as a radio host (Classical KUSC, Los Angeles), preconcert speaker (LA Philharmonic, LA Master Chorale, Pacific Symphony), and educator (currently on the faculty of the Colburn Conservatory). Their engagements have included Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, and the Los Angeles Music Center.
